Special Needs in Geography
As individual teachers we can discuss SEN students with the Learning Support Department to ensure we have full understanding of a student's learning difficulty.
However, the learning support team consists of mainstream teaches and any advice or support is sought informally- not through a set communication process.
In relation to differentiation, when planning lessons, we work from lower to higher order thinking to ensure there is material that is accessible and appropriately challenging to all students. Questioning in the class and assessment methods vary considerably depending on the range of ability within the class.
Any student receiving special consideration in the State Examinations will have an IEP which would be consulted for best practice regarding this particular student.
