Higher Level Mathematics
This course is aimed at the more able student for whom it is a prerequisite for career and further study aspirations. It also caters for the student who has a special interest in the subject. The Higher Level course aims to provide:
- A deeper understanding of mathematical ideas
- An appreciation of powerful concepts and methods
- The ability to solve problems (abstract and general)
- To prove certain results specified in the syllabus.
- Generate competency in algebraic manipulation
Requirements for entry to a higher level class are:
- Grade A or B in Higher Level Junior Certificate Mathematics are automatically accepted into the class
- Consideration may be given, after consultation with their junior certificate teacher to any student receiving a C grade in their Higher
Level Junior Certificate Mathematics
- No grades D, E, or F will be accepted. If the student has not proven themselves able at junior certificate level, they are not considered able for higher level at the Leaving Certificate
