THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Our school was one of the first Community schools in Ireland. It is located on the beautiful Hook Peninsula.
Among the specialist rooms provided are a Metalwork room, a Construction Studies / Materials Technology (Wood) room, a Technical Drawing / Technical Graphics room, a Demo room, an Art room, two Science laboratories, a Home Economics room and a Kitchen / Cooking area and a canteen. We have two modern computer laboratory with high speed broadband access to the internet.
Networked computers are also available in the majority of the classrooms and in specialist areas such as Art, Technical Graphics, Science and Learning Support. Students undertake computer study programmes in First Year, Transition Year, and in the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme.
Learning Support is provided for students with a range of learning difficulties, subject to the resources provided by the Department of Education and Science. In line with current thinking, our school favours main-streaming students with learning difficulties. This means that such students are integrated into regular classes and withdrawn for special help from learning support or resource teachers.
