Equestrian Interschools

What is Interschools?

Equestrian Interschools Ireland (EII) is a national show jumping league for primary and secondary school students across Ireland. Riders compete both as individuals and as part of school teams in competitions held throughout the country.

Teams usually consist of three or four riders, with the best three scores counting towards the final team result. Alongside team competitions, riders can also compete in individual classes at various heights.

The Interschools season runs from the end of September until the end of March, with competitions taking place most Sundays during the season.

Requirements to Take Part

To compete in Interschools, students must:

Have their own horse or pony
Be capable of jumping a minimum height of 80cm
Arrange their own transport to and from competitions
Hold a valid EII membership

As this is a school activity, the school will cover the cost of one entry per student. Any additional entries must be paid for by the rider.

How to Join the RCS Interschools Team?

Students interested in joining the team should follow these steps:

Speak to Ms Roche to express your interest in joining.
Apply for membership through the Equestrian Interschools Ireland website
Once your membership is approved, contact Ms Roche with:
- Your horse’s registered name
- The class height you wish to compete in
- Your membership number
Ms Roche will then enter you into upcoming competitions.

Success at Interschools Events

2024–2025 Season

The RCS Interschools team enjoyed a very successful 2024–2025 season.

The team achieved multiple placings in the 80cm Team competitions and finished1st on the day at the Wexford Equestrian Centre final.

Later in the season, the team travelled to CoilÓg Equestrian Centre in County Kildare, where they won the league final and once again placed 1st on the day — a fantastic achievement for the school and riders alike.
