Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) is an Irish Department of Education policy aimed at reducing educational disadvantage, supporting nearly 1,200 schools and 260,000 students as of 2025. It provides targeted resources, including additional funding, smaller class sizes, Team Teaching, literacy/numeracy supports, and home-school community liaison services.
Ramsgrange Community School is considered a DEIS Rural School and therefore benefits from all of the additional resources allocated to DEIS schools.
DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools) in Ireland focuses on eight key themes to address educational disadvantage, primarily aiming to improve student outcomes through targeted action planning. These core themes are:
- Literacy,
- Numeracy,
- Attendance,
- Retention,
- Transitions (formerly Progression),
- Attainment,
- Partnership with Parents,
- and Partnership with Others.
Please see the following padlet which shares evidence of the excellent things our school does to support the DEIS themes.
