At Ramsgrange Community School, we strongly encourage and promote student involvement in wider school life.
Why Join a club or team?
We believe that extra-curricular activities offer a wide range of benefits for students, both academically and personally including:
- Personal development: Building confidence and self esteem, encouraging responsibility and improving time management.
- Social Skills: Teamwork and collaboration, communication, friendships.
- Academic enhancement: improves focus, discipline and motivation.
- Physical and mental health: reducing stress by supporting mental wellbeing through creative and physical outlets.
- Career and Skill development: exposes students to a wider range of interests, builds their "CV".
- Community Engagement: promotes civic responsibility and community mindedness and inclusion.
What options do I have to join/do during break times?
At RCS, we provide a diverse selection of extracurricular activities for our students, covering a broad spectrum of interests such as arts, sports, gaming, culture, music, and more. These run during the school lunch breaks. We try to cater for all our students and each year we respond to their needs and ambitions in many different fields.
We have a long and distinguished record in our sport, extra curricular activities and our clubs entering both regional, national and global competitions.
These usually include, but are not limited to:
Sports
- GAA
Ladies Football, Camogie, Gaelic Football, Hurling
Clubs & Leadership
- Coding/Capture the Flag Club
We are open to student suggestions and will support any student volunteers to run student-led activities too! If you wish to join a club, you can do so at any time of the year. A "sign -up" day for extra and co-curricular activities and clubs is held each year in September where students can learn more about what is on offer to them in Ramsgrange Community School. We also regulalry update our "Extra Curricular" notice board in school which shows various training/meeting days and times.
